Thomas Essex-Plath
Graduate of Architecture
Thomas recently joined Kennedy Nolan in 2025. Having previously worked with Korth Tielens Architecten in Amsterdam and with Chamberlain Architects in Melbourne, he has extensive experience across all stages of design and documentation, on a range of housing types and methods of construction.
Thomas is a graduate of both architecture and sociology, often teaches, and occasionally writes about architecture for a number of publications. His practice, teaching, and writing center on housing, especially mass housing. He is currently undertaking research on contemporary apartment floor plans in Melbourne and has worked on large-scale social housing projects in the Netherlands.
Thomas is an active member of the architecture community. Alongside teaching, he often sits as a guest reviewer and has previously been a Graduate Juror for the AIA awards.
